The battle at the high end is always very interesting. But it can be even more so when we compare terminals from one year to another. In this sense, the same doubts always arise: are there so many improvements from one year to the next? Can a high-end from 2020 outperform one from 2021? To try to shed some light on these unknowns, we wanted to make a technical comparison between one of the biggest beasts of last year such as the OPPO Find X2 Pro, and the brand new Xiaomi Mi 11.
When a user makes the determination to spend the money on a high-end terminal, he knows that the technical performance of his terminal will last fresh in time, but that in just one year (or less) the hardware will be easily surpassed, with meaning or no, because of the new models. The competition on Android is brutal, and the battle between the new Mi 11 and the OPPO Find X2 Pro can be interesting.
Screen and dimensions
The first thing we look at is the screen of both terminals. The Mi 11 has a large 6.81-inch screen and a resolution of 1,440 x 3,200 pixels, while its rival is slightly smaller at 6.7 inches and 1,400 x 3,168 pixels. The two panels are HDR10 + compliant and offer a 120Hz refresh rate.
They are also protected by Gorilla Glass, although the Mi 11 boasts the new Gorilla Glass Victus, compared to the Gorilla Glass 6 glass of the OPPO Find X2 Pro. The relationship between the screen and the frames is surprising in both terminals, but the Mi 11 hurries a little more achieving the 91.4% screen on the front, compared to 90.9% of the Find X2 Pro.
If we measure and weigh both contenders before the fight, we see that the featherweight is for the Mi 11 at 196 grams and 8.1 millimeters thick, compared to 200 grams for the Find X2 Pro and its 8.8 millimeters. Differences that will not be almost noticeable in your pocket.
Two Snapdragon, two generations
When opening the hood, we see a logical evolution fruit of the passage of time. The Mi 11 sports the new Snapdragon 888, while the Find X2 Pro integrates the Snapdragon 865, although both are at the peak of performance, the Mi 11 will be able to run more freely, whatever its maximum power needs. We say this, because the two processors can handle any software developed right now for Android, no matter how demanding it may be, and we mean the most powerful games with better graphics.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 moves with versions of 8 and 12 GB of RAM, with variants of 128 or 256 GB of storage. The OPPO Find X2 Pro does not go through the roof, and if we are going to play at the premium high-end, OPPO thought to stop being “little girls and offer a single variant with 12 GB of RAM , which can be accompanied by 256 or 512 GB of storage . Neither terminal can expand this capacity using microSD cards. There is a slight difference, which lovers of the smallest detail will like, and that is that the Mi 11 has the UFS 3.1 file processing standard, slightly higher than the UFS 3.0 of the OPPO mobile.
Cameras: quantity or quality?
When we turn the two teams around, we find very different bets in the cameras section. Starting from the premise that no more is better, we see that the Mi 11 sports a 108 megapixel main sensor, accompanied by a 13 megapixel ultra wide angle and a 5 megapixel macro sensor. For its part, the Find X2 Pro sports two 40 megapixel sensors (wide angle + ultra wide angle) and a 13 megapixel phone sensor. At the front, the Mi 11 features a 20-megapixel selfie sensor, compared to its rival’s 32-megapixel sensor.
It should be noted that the Xiaomi terminal lacks optical zoom, while the Find X2 Pro boasts 5x optical zoom. However, the Mi 11 can record video in 8K at 30 fps and 4K at 60 fps, while the Find X2 Pro does so at a maximum of 4K at 60 fps.
Connections and battery
As for the connections, the two terminals can be connected to 5G networks, but they lack a 3.5 headphone jack. We see that the Mi 11 has Bluetooth 5.2 and USB-C 2.0 while the Find X2 Pro has Bluetooth 5.1 but USB-C 3.1. The Mi 11 has a larger battery of 4,600 mAh compared to the 4,260 mAh of the Find X2 Pro. However, fast charging is more advanced in the OPPO terminal, being compatible with 65W and fully charging the terminal in 38 minutes.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 was born with Android 11 and MIUI 12.5, while the Find X2 Pro did so with ColorOS 7 and Android 10. However, it has already received its corresponding update to ColorOS 11 based on Android 11.
And the prices?
We still do not know at what price we can buy the Mi 11 in Spain, but it is possible that in its most modest variant , it easily exceeds 600 euros . The Find X2 Pro is not exactly a cheap terminal, but we find its variant with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of discounted storage at Amazon, for 849 euros . A logical saving with the passing of the months, since this same terminal initially cost 1,199 euros.
